Monthly Report on Export of Non-Oil Goods

TEHRAN A monthly report, March 21- April 21, on the country's non-oil exports was published by Iran's Customs Administration. According to the report the country's non-oil exports in the period stood at 349 billion rials, $199 million which shows a growth of 67 percent when compared to the same period last year. In the same period some 3.9 million worth of goods were exported through the country's border markets with some other $2.7 million worth of goods exported to Common Wealth of Independent States through luggage trade.

The weight of the goods exported in the same period was 1,128 thousands tons which shows a 75-percent growth if compared to the same period last year. The goods imported to the country in the same period weighted 1.2 million tons valued at 1,507 billion rilas, $859 million. The figure shows a decline of three percent in wight and a growth of 10 percent when compared to the same period in 1998. According to the report the main non-oil items exported in the period were: chemical products 19.7 percent valued at $39 million.

The country's major imports in the period were: $161 million worth of industrial machinery and equipment, $127 million worth of Iron ware, $65 million worth of cooking oil, $64 million worth of electrical and industrial devices, $62 million worth of wheat, $34 million worth of chemicals and $21 million worth of chemical industries products which shaped 62.3 percent of country's total imports.
